Ricard Pié i Josep M. Vilanova write this article entitled "Les grans infraestructures de comunicacions", in which they explain how a territory changes due to large communication networks. In this case, the city of Figueres is renewing its road and rail network in order to consolidate its urban and territorial systems. This process means also a good oportunitry for Figueres to become one of the leader cities in the high speed rail net  that connects Spain to Europe.
